As Co-Director of Equity Research, Jeff Black is responsible for helping to shape the firm’s research product for maximum impact to the firm’s institutional client base.
He also serves as a Senior Research Analyst covering mall-based specialty retailers. He has more than a decade of experience researching a broad array of mall and off-mall retailers, including the hardline and broadline sectors. Jeff’s coverage of specialty retailing has been consistently recognized by institutional investors. He was ranked as top three/runner up in Institutional Investor magazine’s annual poll of buy side firms from 2008-2010. He has been cited as a top research source for investors in the highly regarded Greenwich survey and is regularly quoted in trade journals, Barron’s magazine and CNBC.
Prior to joining Avondale in 2012, Jeff led coverage of specialty retailing at Citigroup. He has held senior research positions at Barclays Capital and, before that, Lehman Brothers, where he started his research career as an associate covering broadline retailers. Prior to equity research, Jeff worked in the national retail practice for Ernst & Young. Jeff holds a BA and a JD, both from the University of Tennessee.
